another day

I logged on ready to go and find out more, I secretly hoped that my first and to this point only friend would be online again, so I could talk to him more and find out more stuff.
Everything I did the day before was saved so I was were I logged off, on Appfellland. The same spot I remember being the day before. But sadly my new friend wasn’t online so I was on my own. No on to be seen, I checked on the map and there was only one other person on the island so I decided to check out the other parts which belonged to Appfellland. It was basically like a real city with a fire station, shops (which for some reason were closed) and other things you would find in the real world. For me this was and most of the time is still just a game and I am surprised how people can see it otherwise. On the other hand I have only been on here for a very short period of time and had and still have a lot to learn about this Virtual World.
As I knew from the things I have read about SL there was much more to see, to do and to explore, so I went back to Help Island as I realized that there were always people online one could talk to. Newbies and people who have been in SL for some time and are more clued up about it.
As I teleported to the Island I landed in the middle of some sort of fight. Some guy just randomly conjured weapons and was having arguments with some of the others. If you stand closely enough you can read what they are talking about, which was fun and interesting but I felt more than an observer than a participant, so I left and walked to a bit of grass.
Most of the Avatars I had seen so far looked really good and nice, and I still had pretty much the same appearance than one of the ones you can choose to begin with so I just got onto trying and changing my appearance. I did it in a way to fit in as I thought I wanted to look as nice and good as they do and show that I am not completely incapable of doing some of the things on my own. So I just stood there and played around with my shape, hair, make up, clothes and so on, as I had learned on Orientation Island. I think I spent about 2 hours until I was kind of satisfied with my appearance. I knew that if I wanted better and different clothes and accessoires I would need to buy them, and as I didn’t really have much money (although I earned a bit while just standing around the day before) I didn’t have enough. Also I didn’t really know where to buy them. And here again I should have paid more attention to Help Island, which at this point didn’t do as I was too carried away with getting on with things and finding things out by myself that I ignored all the help which was available without me even knowing and noticing.
It took me a few more trips and research to actually figure out some of the things offered on Help Island. But I will come to that later.
So on this visit to SL I just simply kept myself busy with changing my appearance which was fun, like dressing a doll really. I kept changing it to the weirdest shapes and clothes just to see how it would look like.
Then I got kicked off again and decided I had enough for the day, as much as I liked doing it and being on there, it was getting boring and I had things to get on with in my Real Life.
