Orientation Island
Having figured out that we actually weren’t on the main SL land but on the Orientation Island, which made a lot of more sense to us now, we parted and went our own way to complete the tasks given to us and to explore.
There were four major tasks which one had to complete first to be allowed to the main world. Those three tasks were: Moving, Appearance, Communication and Maps.
There were four sections with tasks to complete. Looking back it was a great help for someone like me who had no idea what to do. I mean flying, walking and talking I had managed to figure out myself, which wasn’t to hard but changing appearance and the information about Owning land, buying land and being able to do gestures as well, was very helpful in my eyes. Of course if you spent enough time on it, and have a good idea about computers and gaming it wouldn’t take you too long to figure it out all by yourself, but with this Orientation Island being there makes things a lot easier, and quicker to understand.
It took me a while to complete every task given to me and I was waiting for something to happen, for me to be able to leave this Orientation Island, and start exploring the real thing.
But nothing happened, the only thing I could see other avatars leaving and me being stuck there.
I talked to a few others to ask why I wasn’t able to leave, or if they knew how to leave. None of them knew and after a short time they were gone as well.
I kept wondering around again and again to see if there was a gap in the virtual barriers set on the island but I just couldn’t get through. And again I started to get a little angry and frustrated, as I didn’t know what to do, didn’t know how to get off the island.
I decided to fly and walk around a little longer, maybe I had missed something. So I spent another hours just doing all the tasks again, and even kissed a talking parrot J
But still nothing happened. So already being on there for about three hours I finally gave up for the day, and decided to give it another go another time.
